Help me support the mental health of young people
Hi All,
I am completing the 12km City to Surf this year and raising funds for Headspace to support the mental health and wellbeing of young Australians.
This cause has become deeply personal—my own son Ben was recently diagnosed with severe schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety and has just spent a total of 14 weeks in hospital. It’s been a tough time for our family, and we’re learning just how important early intervention, support, and research are.
Each year, one in four young people experience a mental health issue, and 75 per cent of mental health disorders emerge before a person turns 25. Sadly, suicide is still the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
Headspace provides mental health services to young people 12 to 25 online, by phone and through headspace centres in metro and regional areas across Australia.
I’ve set a goal to raise $2,000, and every contribution—big or small—makes a difference. If you’re able to help, it would mean the world.
