Help me support the mental health of young people
I am raising funds for headspace to support the mental health and wellbeing of young Australians.
Each year, one in four young people experience a mental health issue, and 75 per cent of mental health disorders emerge before a person turns 25. Sadly, suicide is still the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
headspace provides mental health services to young people 12 to 25 online, by phone and through headspace centres in metro and regional areas across Australia.
As a school teacher, my purpose is to inspire others to pursue what inspires them. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin — if you can find your why, you can find a way.
If their humanities teacher can show up and take on something as unexpected as running 70km, I hope it shows my students that they too are capable of chasing big goals. Whatever they want to achieve, I want them to believe it’s possible — and to feel supported by the people around them as they go after it.
